Maren Conrad, Registered Psychologist
I am a mother to a sweet toddler and an energetic kid, a wife to a fabulous husband, a transplanted Nova Scotian who misses the ocean, a voracious reader, a traveler, and a lover of dark chocolate.
I grew up in a small town on the south shore of Nova Scotia and earned my B.Sc. at Mount Allison University in an equally small New Brunswick town. Soon after, I took a rather spontaneous flight to Munich and spent 18 months working and living in Germany, Switzerland, and London. During this time I traveled through many countries, both alone (which I highly reccomend!) and with friends and family. It was a wonderful time of discovery and culture.
My European adventure complete, I moved to Calgary in 2005 and applied to the University of Calgary for grarduate school. Over the next couple of years I earned my M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology while volunteering and working at the Calgary Distress Centre. My internship and residency were completed at Calgary Counselling Centre. In 2009 I completed the requirements to become a Registered Psychologist (R. Psych.) with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Before launching Thrive Counselling & Consulting, I worked with the Calgary West Central Primary Care Network and Alberta Health Services.
I am trained to Level 2 of the Gottman Method of Couple’s Therapy and trained in a specialised trauma technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I am also a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.
